When questions about early Canada arise, my "go to" references are Winthrop Boggs 1945 "The Postage Stamps and Postal History of Canada" (original editions available, but I use my 1974 Quarterman reprint), and Fred Jarrett 1929 "Stamps of British North America" (1975 Quarterman reprint).
Boggs says this:
Jarrett doesn't add much, but says this:
Specifically with respect to your question about the presence of #6 in your old albums, my 1967 Scott still lists #6. I am afraid I have no information on why #6 appears to have been "demoted" sometime since.
I hope that helps.

Fantastic Roy, my question is answered!!!
I presume you noticed the vertically placed inscription alongside the upper right hand edge of the photograph of the cover: "This illustration is of a faked cover."

I have two copies of my Harris Canada album, one we had to transfer stuff out of about 30ish years ago because it was falling apart. The first page had a listing for a very expensive Canada #6 which appears to be a wove paper version for the expensive #3. In other words it appears to exist!! The new Harris leaves it out and the Canada Unitrade catalog says that the number was "unassigned" and the Scott's says "the 12p black wove stamp probably does not exist". I'm going to try to do some research, just out of pure curiosity, since I will never be able to afford either #3 or #6. I'm just curious if anyone knows the true story. I know I once saw someone on line calling #6 an incredibly rare stamp. That implies it does exist, what's up?
