"I don't know what a PFC costs!"
The stamp collecting boards on Facebook are mainly populated by people who recently found an old collection or a handful of stamps and are convinced they must be valuable. The last one I saw was a mint 8 cent Eisenhower definitive that had a corner torn off of it. I can imagine people thinking "Wow that stamp is 40 years old, it must be the only one left!" I don't blame them because between wishful thinking and shows like "Antique Roadshow" they've been conditioned.
What I do have an issue with is a certification board that would go through the entire certification process just to keep the fee.
I assume this certificate is not a fake.
I have read somewhere about people selling stamps with faked certificates.
On ebay this morning in the stamps section I saw the Philatelic Foundation Certificate (PFC) for a stamp with a Scott value of .35 cents, but stamp had a very large thin. I find this interesting, I don't know what a PFC costs! By the way it was in "Buy it Now" section with a cost of $35.20!
I would not tell somebody how to collect stamps as no one should tell me how to collect stamps! To each their own! But this is a new way!
