Most modern papers for inkjet or laser printers are acid free. For archival paper look for lignin free paper.
I use Southworth ivory linen paper 32lb. It is 25% cotton and acid and lignin free. I print using a laser printer (single-side) and the results, in my opinion, are outstanding. A bit expensive but well worth the price.
I am in the minority as I use 104gsm (28 lb. text) paper because I print a lot of pages. Thicker paper means more binders. I have printed over 3800 Steiner pages. Most I know favor 146gsm (60lb cover). I also wanted something readily available so not tied to once source,
My ideal weight was 32 lb. but could not find it in cream. White is too bright for me.
You're not alone, Al. I also print thousands of pages for the stamps Scott doesn't include in its pages.
I use Xerox 24 lb. Ivory. I also print on both sides. I find no problem using this paper, and the thickness is similar to Scott International pages, which are printed on both sides. All stamps are mounted on the pages with Showgard-style mounts.
Do not know if I am in the majority or minority. I do not like stamps on both sides of the paper, especially if the paper is thin. I use 67 lb, (147 g/m) semi-smooth finish in white. All my Scott pages are one sided that come with the specialty series and that is fine with me. For countries I do not have Scott pages for, I use Steiner pages printed on my inkjet printer.
Now that you are confused, I suggest that you try one of each and see which you like best.
Here are the paper weights for several commercial albums:
Schaubek 160 gsm
Palo 150 gsm
Scott Specialty 118 gsm
Stanley Gibbons 140 gsm
Many thanks for all the great responses. I'm going to try to get to Staples this weekend and see if they'll give me some samples to try out. If so, I'll report back on my findings.
Dave.
I use ivory linen cardstock (acid-free) mount on one side, two sheets back to back in heavy duty paper protectors also acid-free.
"Scott Specialty 225 gsm"
I too use a I free 67# white or ivory stock (depending on the album). I only print on one side of each sheet using a very reliable Brother laser printer. I purchase my stock I packs of 100 sheets from Staples.

Took place in a New York cemetery
Zombies from all parts of the Island
Some of them was a great Calypsonians
Since the season was Carnival
They get together in bacchanal
And they singing
Back to back, belly to belly
I don't give a damn, I done dead already
Oho back to back, belly to belly
At the Zombie Jamboree
One female Zombie wouldn't behave
See how she jumping out of the grave
In one hand she holding drum
With other hand she knocking Congo drum
Believe singer start to make his rhyme
The other Zombies are racking thyme
(A song to sing while putting pages in your album.)
Nice Charlie!
Apparently, the Harry Belafonte song and video inspired Michael Jackson's really ramped-up "Thriller" video.
Not sure there was as much outrage generated, but they were different eras.
Any suggestions/comments on paper (obviously acid-free) to use for an album printing Steiner Pages?
I’ll probably stick to white (unless someone has a brilliant idea) but I’m interested in a couple issues.
1) Finish? I currently use pages that are smooth (but not really glossy) which I prefer to something flat.
2) What is a good “weight” if you print on both sides and don’t want to see wet marks from hinges or images from the other side?
Many thanks, Dave.
