Daily. But I can top that. Yesterday, I was preparing an unused stamp, with a cat value of $200, for a picture before adding it to my online store. It had a hinge rem that I thought I could easily remove. A minute later the stamp has a corner bend and a 5mm tear. It will now be sold as a space filler.
More than once I found a missing item in the scanner. Now it's the first place I look.
I have this wonderful postcard showing my property in Black Point in 1910, a small church newly built down the road, a great Black Point post mark and an interesting message. I "put it aside" to show a friend and, you guessed it, I have no idea where I put it!! The last time I did something like this was several years ago when I separated a set of rare Mt. Washington salt and pepper shakers so I could show one to a fellow collector. I brought the shaker back home and put it in a safe spot until I could reunite it with the other shaker. I found it three years later totally by accident. How many of you are also good at hiding things from yourself? When we moved in this place in 1981 I managed to hide a box of my wife's knitting that still hasn't shown up!!
