They have the cheek to say:-
"Very well maintained and handled with care."
Notice it says "may not ship to Canada". He obviously knows we're too smart to fall for his BS. Seriously though, why do people do things like this? The seller can't possibly think anyone will buy the item!! This type of crap is all over E-Bay!

Seller has zero feedback.... did anyone else catch the user name?

I did, and I couldn't resist, I send him a little note telling him that I have seven (7) copies of the stamp
and I was willing to let him have them for about $5.00 each, needless to say that I never got a reply, nor do I expect one.
"every once on a while someone gets sucked into these scams"
What I notice a lot is that when you look up an item the prices are all over the place. As an example I have my wife's mother's RAF cap badge from WWII and just for the heck of it I looked it up on E-Bay, not that I would ever sell it! By the way, that's a sad story since my wife was the end of her family and there is no one left to give family stuff to. But, that's not the point. I saw prices for the cap badge, which is very common, from $10 up to $100. If I were trying to sell an object I would check prices and try to get in close to the bottom. Even if I had a lot invested in an object it seems very stupid to list it at a price that would make it not sale-able!! No sensible person (maybe that's the problem) is going to pay 10 times more than he/she has to. And you always have to look at shipping prices!!
eBay opportunists are out there!
In the model car hobby, one of the manufacturers has been restoring old tooling and offering up new copies of car kits that we haven't seen in 20-50 years. All above board with explanations on the box bottoms, along with their current address with zip code, web site and bar codes. Retail price around $30.
When a new kit gets released, opportunists will list them up at $100+ hoping to catch people sleeping! With an original kit selling for $200, people quickly hit the Buy It Now button!
Even worse are the sellers who will list them at $100-200 in the real car section, under parts.... with wording like "This is the only one I have..." hoping to fleece a real car owner who wants a model of his car but has no idea of the market!
Some sellers like any scammer usually rely on percentages. Ones does not need to swindle everyone but they can usually get a few each time. For example, for the ebay seller that posts a common stamp and asks $10,000 it only takes one to get a sale.
"... for the ebay seller that posts a common stamp
and asks $10,000 it only takes one to get a sale. ...
That is the same motive that drives the Nigerian Prince
scammers and their ilk.

I've seen something on E-Bay that hopefully none of us would be sucked in by! A lot of US stamps have vertical or horizontal lines above, below or on either side of the stamps. These lines are there because much larger sheets were cut along these lines to form 4 smaller sheets. I have seen stamps on E-Bay advertised for huge prices because of these "rare and mysterious" lines!! I have a couple actually marked with arrows in the margins of the stamps. GOK what they would try to sell something like that for. I have several line pairs where the two stamps are from two adjacent unseparated sheets. How many thousands would they try to sell line pairs for? The mind boggles!!
