Well, looking at the Index and Identifier in the Scott Catalogue, Volume 3A, It says that "Anna surcharged on Great Britain" stamps are listed in Volume 5A.
The Index and Identifier in Volume 5A sends you to Oman.
Learn how to use your catalogues. They are tools, not picture books. Saves you lots of time and frustration.
re: British Overprints for Subcontinent
The "Anna, Annas" index in my older (pre-split volume) catalogs only sent me to India. Neither my catalogs' Identifiers nor the separate 2021 Scott Stamp Illustrated Identifier booklet have an "Anna surcharged on Great Britain" listing or a section of Oman stamps.
When you suggested Oman, I did find the overprinted George and Elizabeth stamps listed and will put them on that album page.
Thanks for your help. As for your "picture books" remark...
Well said Earwaves. There was absolutely no need for the snide remark, and from a Moderator too.
Has the "Be Nice to Everyone" section of the Moderator Training Course been taken out?
This isn't the first occasion a Moderator has been unnecessarily rude to a member. Who Moderates the Moderators?
Best I can tell - Stanley Gibbons lists under "British Postal Agencies in Eastern Arabia" with a note they no longer list under Muscat as the stamps had wider use than just Muscat. Therefore Scott listing them under Oman seems to be for legacy reasons, not because of current research. It is very confusing to me too, but it would be an interesting area to see a postal history exhibit from.

Reprimand accepted. My apologies.
Reprimand apology also accepted.
I did find the two stamps in my ancient (2003) Scott's. I should have known to use the Great Britain "A" illustration numbers and looked through all the possible countries.
Where in my album should I put these GPO overprints?
This article by the GB Overprints Society seems authoritative, but has me bewildered: http://www.gbos.org.uk/index.php/Country_List/8
Kuwait? Muscat and Oman? Dubai? Bahrain? India?
Help!
