ebay ? i don't think so...why doesn't he contact an auction house like Harmers ?
I'm going to advise him to get in touch with a specialty auction house but I have no experience with that myself. Does he have to do the certification or will the auction house do that as well - for a fee, of course. There's no way a place like E-Bay would be an option for something as scarce as this!! There's one auction company that occasionally auctions out of Halifax. Does anyone know if they still exists? I've looked on line and the only one I can find is Eastern Auctions out of Bathurst N.B.
When a friend in Ottawa wanted to dispose of his collection...he contacted H.R. Harmer in California...they flew two guys out from California who worked on his material for two days. They they offered him a choice of purchase or put the collection up for auction. He chose to go to auction which turned out be a much better deal for him. His collection was such that the auction house paid the shipping charges to the auction...i doubt if they do that for many people. I do not want to divulge any more information except that catalogs of his auction are still around.

The item in question warrants the use of a major auction house or consigner to limit risk. Why would anyone even consider involving Ebay or any site that uses Paypal where there is the possibility of loss of everything., Why would you take the responsibility for safe shipment and money transfer.
Limit your risk - let an auction house take the risk or have a trusted dealer act as broker and assume the risk..... yes, the percentage is high because the risk is real...
I'm definitely going to advise using an auction house that deals regularly in high value stamps. All I have to do is find one that is reasonably local that he can use. If he doesn't follow my advice then that is his problem. I'll probably recommend he get in touch with Eastern Auctions in NB unless someone out there from this area can recommend another company. Thanks for your help!
Hi Harvey,
Yes, it was Eastern Auctions that held auctions in Halifax. Since Covid they have gone online and have held their auctions
in Bathurst . They are local as you will get. I've been dealing with them for 30 plus years and recommend them. I can't
comment on if your friend gets certificates or they will.

According the the Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps 2009, a complete set of Canada Diamond Jubilee stamps in mint very fine never hinged condition has a catalogue value of $34, 470.00!
The 2022 has a value of $34,560, just $90 more than 2009!
That's if they are in VF condition.
If they are MNH, he'll need to get them certified to verify that the gum is original. I'd recommend a Canadian auction house, preferably one with low commissions! The auction house will strategize the sale, as a set of broken up, to maximise return.
Thanks very much for the help. I passed the recommendation on and now it's up to the seller whether to follow the advice. Thanks again for the help and I'll let you know the result!
" ..... The 2015 value for the mint set is almost $12 000 with a 200% premium for non-hinged. ....."
Value is what a knowledgeable buyer is willing to pay. I think you mean the listing in a catalog. Something as rare and apparently perfect, with a qualified certification might exceed that listing. Or the best offer could make a grown man cry. Try not to inflate your friend's friend's dreams too high,. sometimes reality can burst the balloon quite cruelly. At least get an authentic experts certificate. Good luck to you all.
Juat wondering what the value of a complete used set would be ?(depending on condition and a buyer )
2015 Unitrade Fine: about $4000 VG: about $8000. Most of the value is in the $1 to 5$ values.
I have a friend of a friend who has the complete set of the Canada Jubilee stamps MNH and he would like to sell. I have the set even though mine are not MNH and the higher values are not even mint. He says he has had the stamps for over 40 years and they originally came from the safe of an old closed down post office. I have bought from this person before and trust him. He wants to get as much for the set as possible and wants my advice. You would probably never see a set of these stamps in MNH condition again. I think he should have the set certified, at least the higher values, and go with a specialty stamp auction. The 2015 value for the mint set is almost $12 000 with a 200% premium for non-hinged. What advice would you give? It doesn't seem like an E-Bay option in my opinion - too rare for most collectors.
