Foolish to think they could get away with something in our little world.
Perhaps you should register all your images as nft's, then you could retire as a wealthy Scot. Maybe charge them a royalty?
It is a few hours since my initial post and I have been having quite a lengthy ponder.
Should I seek restitution for copyright infringement?

Am I the one and only or are there others whose copyright has been infringed?

The answer to the last question appears to be YES!
Ah Raymond! Wish I had a Raymond! Lol!
Rolling on floor laughing here - . Ian, you are a delight!
Ian, are you counting the Inverted Jenny I bought from you a couple weeks ago and just sold for over $1 000 000? I think not!!!
Harvey I forgot you had bought one of those.
I had a block of four and have sold the other three. I started them off at 99cents!
I better print off some more!!
Methinks your customer will want his cash back.
Maybe they have a friend called Raymond as well !
If I was you I would head for them thar hills matey!!!!
On a serious note. I was an antique dealer for many years and quite often dealers sold to other dealers. If I saw an item in another shop I could make a few bucks on I didn't hesitate to buy. But I usually didn't ask for a reduction and since we knew each other in almost all cases he/she knew I might resell. If the item I was buying was grossly under priced I passed the information on and the other person was free to keep the item. I was one of the honest ones, but I am not bragging, since as an antique dealer, being known as honest was an asset when buying from the general public. Unfortunately not everyone thought that way and occasionally my sold items would show up with a hugely increased price. I tried to learn from incidents like this and sometimes I did. I learned about both the item concerned and the ethics of the dealer. I would like to think most of us would mention a for sale item that the seller was offering at a grossly inadequate price. We are all friends here and should respect each other. This hasn't happened very often, but a couple time I have bought an item and found out later I paid way too little and have either returned the item or given a bit extra money. There are stories circulating about certain dealers or pickers who make a habit of fleecing the people they buy from. These people usually fade into the background when their habits become general knowledge.
Ian, I'll send the Inverted Jenny back to you real soon!!
I have discovered that there are more of these items up for sale by this person.
It will be interesting to see if they sell.
I sold them for X and they are trying to sell them at X + 150% in some cases, and X + 35% in others.
If I couldn't sell them at 20% cat value, reduced to 10% cat value why do they think they can sell them at an even higher price than my original 20% of catalogue.
Should I "name and shame" the person ?

"Should I "name and shame" the person ?"
I do not think name and shame should be used in this case.
However, using an image someone else has previously used surely breaks our rule that generic images are not allowed. In this case, because the image is not as the stamp was when received by the reseller.
How many here sell stamps to make a profit ? Thank goodness i do not think there are too many unless they are dealers. I am delighted to get "something" back on an item that would otherwise be entombed in one of my famous boxes.
I said earlier that I do not mind someone making a profit but using MY scan is to me beyond the pale.
Yes we all like to make a wee bit profit but don't poop on your neighbours doorstep.
If I buy mixed boxes at auction in Edinburgh I sell the remains in Dundee or Perth and vice versa.
Of course sellers are free to sell, Buyers are allowed to buy but at least don't be lazy and use the sellers scans when you do re-sell.
Have some respect. Not just to the Seller but to yourself.
Profit? What’s that? Lol
Ian... Perhaps you've heard of this law firm.... Dewey, Cheatem & Howe (i.e. Do We Cheat Them and How?)... AKA Three Stooges.
A “Car Talk” fan?
actually, i'm impressed that the new seller didn't waste precious energy turning on his computer, his scanner, and then do all this work that would have resulted in exactly what he already had. To me, he's the embodiment of Scottieness.
I'm sorta puzzled how we can object to someone buying and selling in an auction site, for he did the one and is trying to do the other. Best of all, Ian got both several sales and an opportunity to get his gasted fully flabbered, and multiple times. By now (or as the new seller might say: BUY NOW), Ian's gasted must be ..... wait, is flabbering adding polyunsaturateds or is it more like an angioplasty?
of course, all that energy the new seller has saved, we've wasted flabbering about like so much silly putty in a Fred MacMurray (another Scott, or just an Irish wannabee?) film.
I think, having talked about it so many times, we're heading to the Flab Four (or does that only happen if the items are resold several more times?).
Perhaps new seller could create an approval book of Ianospheric material. Ian, I sense more sales in your near future.
I'll leave you with some reminiscences of EM Forster's trip with Miss Gasted, where she goes down a L Carrol rabbid hole, and after a series of legal skirmishes, figures it was little more than some overstewed Hagis.

"To me, he's the embodiment of Scottieness."
FYI, From the Auction Rules:
"F1. Buyers and sellers may file a dispute against the other party to a purchase for reasons such as non-shipment, item not as described, and non-payment. All disputes must be sent to the Auctioneer via Private Message, and should provide as much information as possible regarding the transaction and the problems associated with it. Posting complaints about a specific buyer or seller on the Discussion Boards is prohibited."
I have no intention in naming and shaming.
My posts were for a bit of fun, as my flabber had never been so gasted.
Using the phrase naming and shaming was to enable me to put in the comedic address of a firm of fictional solicitors.
Are we not allowed to have some fun?
Now if one wants to get serious:-
I have a unique way of presenting my auction lots and this individual has used MY scans AND unique way of presentation which some, at a quick glance, could take that an auction lot is MINE when it is not. It is a breach of my copyright and the rules of Stamporama.
Rather than make a serious complaint I decided to let myself and folkies have a laugh about it.
Look on the bright side Ian.
You’ve helped start a trend of American sellers listing in Pounds rather than Dollars! What a country!
With UK-US relations now being at a high point you may get an Ambassadorship.
Next step is to bring Canada in and make it a trilateral marketplace. Maybe I can volunteer to buy your Clearance items but have you keep them, re-list at a higher price later, and send me 72.37% of the difference (taxes included).
Dave
P.S. I had a member buy some stamps from me at super-cheap prices then sell them later for a fair bit more. But they let me know, and sent a bunch of stamps as a donation to “The Project”. And I noticed that their buyers had never bought from me before. So, potential internecine situations can resolve peacefully on SOR. Respect and communication are the keys.
BTW, Safe to assume this person has similarly decided to bear some responsibility and reach out to you?
Hey Dave,
I normally list in Dollars, except when I can't find a stamp in Scotts. Then its mostly Machins as Scotts don't give seperate prices for the various types and placements of Phosphor Bands in the Machin series.
I do it in Dollars as I know how difficult it is for folkies to do some mental arithmetic converting Pounds to Dollars. (pair wee souls).
I said before I do not object to folkies re-selling after purchasing from me. I normally name my price and am happy when an item sells at that price. Otherwise they would just sit around in a box/album.
I will not make any comment on relationships between GREAT Britain, the USA and Canada as it would be like stepping into a Minefield!! (I refuse to comment on the British bullet holes still in the White House walls. Hee Hee Hee)
How about Scots and English relations ? i am wearing my William Wallace monument shirt my daughter gave me.
Phil, that reminded me of this. Strange how brain cells work.

I said that back in the '70's and unfortunately we have had a Nationalist party in power since 2007 and they have run Scotland into the ground.
If you become a member of a Health Board or School Board you have to sign a document that you will never publicy critisize them or any other member of a committee.
It is like living under a dictatorship, the worst kind of "Banana Republic".
At the last election there were plenty of SNP flags and banners but very few of the other parties because individuals were too terrified to put up flags and banners due to the backlash they would suffer from the Nationalist bully boys. Even the Scottish media are terrified of them. Thankfully the English media is not.
I thought I had seen it all! And me with a dickey ticker!!
It never fails to amaze me what some folkies get up to in the stamp world.
I have been on this site since 2015 and goodness gracious me what I have discovered here today "You could knock me down with a feather!"
I have sold numerous lots in the auctions here to various members and I have never come across this before.
While scrolling through the auctions in the merry month of June I was flabbergasted. Never has my flabber been so gasted!
There on the screen, in the middle of the screen, there it was, a 6 x 4 glossy scan of the scene of the "crime"!
A scan of mine showing a lot I had sold to another member several weeks ago under their name at a greater price!
I don't mind them making a profit but using my scan. Not even bothering to make their own!!
You naughtee! noughtee! person you!
