How about a post card of Geneva's waterfront brought back to Halifax N. S. and mailed from there from the Rockingham Station, really nice cancellation by the way, in the 1890's. I would guess who ever mailed it just got back from Geneva and brought a few post cards back to send to friends. Could you show the other side?
Well I guess I messed that up big time!! Obviously sent from Switzerland and sent to Halifax where it was postmarked a few times on arrival. Really nice card!
Was it normal to stamp it on the receiving end
I don't know if it was always done, but in the early days of postal services it was often done. I collect post marks from Queen's County, Nova Scotia and quite a few of them are postmarked when received at the final stop and quite often by every post office that handles them on the way. I'm not sure when this practice ended but at one time it was common. Can anyone out there who is into postal history fill us in on this topic?
