re: A little light reading from the BBC today
It does bring to mind the story told by Tony Benn, Britain's Postmaster General for part of the 1960s. A stamp designer said that putting the Queen's head on commemorative stamps made an attractive design difficult. Benn proposed an issue without it. The prime minister after a regular meeting with the queen brought back an answer that she was most displeased with the suggestion. I think the final outcome was the change from the Wilding portrait on commemoratives to a smaller silhouette of her head. (This is not a political post so whether you are monarchist or a republican please keep it to yourselves)
