I have the catalogues and can do a few lookups for you.
Thanks Dave, but I'm going to trying to learn more about these. I'm going to try to focus on these more in my online stamp store. So many variants, especially Australia....fascinating stuff.

You will almost always find "many variants"
whenever you divorce Scott's and access a
national catalog. There will be things you
never noticed on stamps and series you
might well have tossed into the dustbin.
Any time you see the opportunity to pickup
a good used copy of Gibbons, Facit, Yvert,
Ceres, Ma, Michel or anther of the many
national catalogs, make that investment.
One rainy day when you have some time,
it will come in handy.
CDJ...thanks for your thoughts. I actually did just receive a Gibbons Australia catalog, and was a bit disappointed. It really didn't add much, if anything, as far as I could see to what is offered in Gibbons British Commonwealth specialized, which I own. (I am referring to pre 1940 stuff). But, maybe that was enough, and I didn't really need the single Australia one. Would any of the others you mentioned do a deeper dive than Gibbons?

For Australia, I use a dated South Seas catalog, or the Gibbons Commonwealth as they suit my needs. The Billig's Philatelic Handbooks; The Empire in Australasia is useful for pre-1950. Michel for the Southeast Asia area might have some interesting info, but it is in German.
Perhaps you would do best by posting your query in the "Australia Sub-topic that is further below this general topic.
This is the one I think most specialized collectors of Australia use ,There is a copy for all reigns and designs .As I stated in the first post not cheap but I think are the best .
Brian
Can anyone recommend the above and point me to a source?
Thanks
