The MUH 5/- robes with the strong offset emanates from the material stolen from the Note Printing Branch, the theft occurred over many years by a former employee named John George Patrick Martin of Beach Road, Sandringham, Victoria.
At his trial the jury dismissed the charge of having taken stamps from the branch’s burning room and having disposed of them. This 5/- robe offset is rare and only a very small number are recorded.
