Thank you Roy! Were the cachets done for them by Artcraft?
Since they are a broken set, I'll be popping them on eBay as singles. I tried as a lot and it didn't sell.
I had a series of obscure battles of the American Revolution, and people bought singles from their town or state. Then a lady mopped up and bought all I had left!
Maybe folks will pick up their favorite presidents.
Epilogue-
We have sold our first cover.... and the winning president was Zachary Taylor! Purchased by someone named Taylor for $1.99 plus $1 postage.
I also have a regular customer named Lincoln, who buys... well, you know.. I'm just waiting for him to discover the cover!
Five more of these covers have watchers, so they're likely to sell.
Note that I had this entire series of 35 covers on eBay as a lot for $9.99 plus $4.99 postage with no takers for at least 18 weeks. Now I have potential interest for that amount for 5 covers!
The "Pick Your Favorite President" strategy is a winner!
Back in the heyday of manufactured collectibles, there were tons of cover series by a wide variety of different manufacturers. I recently came across this series of The Presidents of the United States. It goes up to Carter who was president in 1976-7.
There are no manufacturers or sponsor logos anywhere on them. There is also a card inside each one telling the significance of the stamps used on that specific cover. Again no info!
I tried eBay by putting some of the more obscure presidents into the covers category. I didn't find any of the covers I was looking for. Of course this set came my way in a FDC batch, without the cushy album and missing a few covers.
The covers have the Artcraft look and feel. They are a bit larger than a standard number 6 envelope, as some of these series were. There may be a manufacturer and a distributor, such as "Artcraft" and distributed in the cushy overpriced album by "The Lunatic Philatelists of America"... Anyone?
