2010ccg:
This past week, we had TWO Royal Visits in Ottawa.
The first visit; HRH The Princess Margiet of The Netherlands was in Ottawa to open the Tulip Festival. She was born at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1943, as her family was sheltered in Ottawa during the NAZI occupation of The Netherlands. Following the liberation of Holland, lead by the Canadian Army, every year, since 1946, the Dutch have sent Canada 100 000 tulip bulbs. That's why we have a tulip festival in Ottawa each spring. The beds of tulips along the Rideau Canal are just beautiful.
As our Mayor, Jim Watson said to the Princess, "Welcome back to your hometown...". Thousands were out to greet her.
Incidentally, for those of you who are topical collectors, the official flower of the City of Ottawa is the tulip.
The second visit; our future King, H.R.H. The Prince Charles and his wife, The Dutchess of Cornwall were warmly greeted in Ottawa, yesterday. The usual rounds of visitations and a large number of people out to greet them.
It was a busy week for visitors to the nation's capital, but everyone was having fun.

That's a nice tradition. Princess Margriet keeps a low profile, at least over here in the Netherlands she does. We do not hear or see much of her activities nowadays. I had not seen anything of this visit in the newspaper or on TV. Perhaps it is because the Royal family is not as popular as it once was, which is mostly due to some foolish actions by the king during the pandemic and his cousin Bernhard junior (a son of Margriet) who is quite a capitalist who thinks rules are for others, not for him... He had the dubious honour of having a special tax named after him which is meant to discourage the practice of buying properties, convert them into smaller apartments and then rent them out for outrageous prices...
His mother Margriet is very much okay though.

It's too bad Canada Post didn't see fit to issue a commemorative on this occasion. Royalty is a popular topic and their commemorative covers from St. John's, Ottawa and Yellowknife would have sold like hot-cakes! It would have been a nice addition to QEII's Platinum Jubilee stamp issued earlier.
I want to thank Stamporama member Larry V for personal taking the time to prepare a 2022Royal Tour cover and sending it my way. It will find a special place in my Platinum Anniversary collection. I tried to scan and post but am not able to do it successfully
Thankyou Larry
I am wondering if a collector or philatelic group have made any personal cachets to record the visit of Prince Charles to Canada ?
A missed opportunity to record the history of a Royal Visit during the Platinum reign of his mother the Queen .
Shouldn`t we record today`s history ?
I`m thinking out loud ....
