The Ebay posting said this was a U10 (from Scott), but it is obviously not. I think it is a U3, which would put it in the 1853-55 time frame. Does that look right?
The image is not clear enough to see the shape of the end panels that holds the "THREE", but I am inclined to agree with the seller. It is definitely a buff envelope and that is the cheapest of the buff varieties.
I suspect from your comments that you may be confusing the "U" design designations with the "U" catalogue numbers. Scott U10 is design U5. This is the only area I am aware of where Scott introduces this confusion between design numbers (usually "A" numbers for stamps) and the actual catalog number.
Have another look at the catalogue and you will see what I mean.

Got it! Thank you Roy. That will fit in well in my Minnesota Cancels collection.

I put in a bid on this cover on ebay. It would fit in well into my Minnesota Cancel collection. Can anyone help me with a rough time frame that this would have been sent?
