Thanks, i am a little curious about the 4 cents ...unless someone just wanted to use an attractive stamp.

Perhaps the sender only had a 4-cent stamp. To avoid having to buy a stamp at a postal outlet, I’ll sometimes just put enough old stamps on the envelope to ensure delivery.

sometimes the explanation is the most obvious one: this is a double rate cover

2c per 1/2 ounce from 10.1.1883
2c per 1 ounce from 7.1.1885-11.2.1917

it's quite nice cover
