In the late 1970s, I lived in Syracuse, NY. I was active in the stamp scene, and with a friend formed a small stamp dealership. We did stamp shows in the central and northern NY area. After I moved to Texas, and joined Stamporama, I saw a post by Carol. I noticed that she was from the same area of NY, and we started a years long chat about stamps, the area of NY and other things. The irony is that while we never personally met, it is possible that we met at a stamp show without knowing it.
Carol was a wonderful person, and I will miss our conversations.
I can't imagine a finer tribute to one's partner than continuing on in their beloved pursuits, all the more so by taking their avatar.
Lovely, Henry, and I am so sorry.
David
Very sad to hear this, condolences to you Henry and your family.
Sorry to hear this. Over the years I occasionally traded messages with Carol. When the manilla approval card shortage hit - I asked for anyone that had some that they were not using - I would glady accept donations. Carol sent me some and also some samples of other cards she was using. I appreciated that greatly. Condolences to her husband and family.
Very sad news. She will be missed.
I am sad to report that a longtime Stamporama member and philatelic friend of mine, Carol Brooks (Webpaper), passed away on March 31, 2022.
Her husband, Henry, will continue her membership with us. Henry is a great guy too. Henry, thank you for staying with Stamporama. My deepest condolences on your loss.
