Its Scott 59
Please don't take offense to this as I know you are trying to help. But, the Scott #59 in my 2022 Scott Specialized Catalog is totally different, most notably the absence of "Japanese Empire" on the top, and "Post" on either side.
Am I nuts? (No opinions as to this required).
Thanks
I just check on Colnect.com and the number of your stamp is 59. Look on Colnect under Japan and the year 1876 and click on the stamp shown then move your cursor over the scan on Colnect.
In th scott catalog see the footnote after #84.

Ian is absolutely correct.

God, but I feel like an idiot! I must have looked at that Japanese stamp in Scotts half a dozen times. Finally, this morning I got out the magnifiers, and, alas, you are all correct! Number 59 right in front of me! My only pitiful excuse is that I'm recently off cataract surgery, and am waiting for surgery on my eyelids to improve my lousy vision. As such, I cannot yet get a proper prescription. Having said that, for just that reason I should have pulled the magnifiers out to begin with. Without the magnification, I literally could not read the wording on the stamp. Lesson learned.
My bad...very bad. Deep apology to Brechinite, and many thanks to Roy and Doug for their help.
All I can say is "You are not Alone" and "Been There. Done that" and you won't be the last that couldn't see the wood for the trees!
Looked a few times in Scott...no luck. Anyone have a clue?
