30% to 50%, depending on the backside.
My guess is dull blue and definitely not ultramarine.
Invoking the disclaimer that the color may well be distorted by the scan and video screen, I'd say it's Blue or Prussian Blue.
I bought Michel's Colour Guide to identify the colour varieties of German stamps.
I also use it for stamps from other countries.
Unfortunately the name "dull" I can't translate into German, I guess it's a shade of blue but what do you mean: brighter or darker?
In my opinion the colour is blue or grey-blue.
I hope this helps.
Interesting question, gerom.
From your color chart, it seems that "lebhaft" translates to "lively", or "vivid" in English.
So, I sought the opposite of lebhaft, and came up with "ruhig" which translates to "quiet", or "calm" in English.
Could ruhig be a synonym for dull?
-Paul
PS, or maybe gedämpft?
I don't realize how good the translation from German to English is. (both of them foreign to me)
Sorry about the pictures (it's nighttime and I have no natural light)
hellrot = lightred
dullred= mattrot ???
I know these are tough with a scan, but opinions welcome
Choices are....1) Dull blue, 2) Blue, or 3) Ultra
Too bad about the upper left corner, otherwise a darn fine stamp. Just a thought....how much do you think this degrades this stamp (%)?
Thanks
