The stamp on the left is SC# 209 which is listed as being black. The stamp on the right has the same watermark but appears to be more brown of which there is no mention in the catalogue. Is this a variation of the black color?

re: ceylon KGV color variation

This stamp is listed in Scott's as Scott 209 and Black/Scarlet With Multiple CA Watermark and produced 1912-25 and with Die I

It is also listed in Scott's as Scott 240 and Black/Scarlet with Multiple Script CA Watermark and produced 1921-23 and with Die II and Die I

The Left Hand stamp in your scan is a Die I stamped with a date of 1920 so it is Scott 209 cat val in 2017 of $1.75 Mint and $2.10 Used

The Right Hand Stamp in your scan is Die II stamped with a date of 1928 so it is Scott 240 cat val in 2017 of $1.90 Mint and $0.95 Used

The colour on your Right Hand is nearer a brown than black and could be caused by exposure to sunlight or water or other chemical means.
