As I bought stamps on SOR over the years I would put a "slash" through the album placeholder with the initials of the seller.
Good technique (if you can keep track of stuff) but I now have many dozens of blank spaces with a slash and initials such as "PK", "PU", "DR", "BUR" and no idea who these folks are. And of course, all purchases were made so long ago that our current SOR record-keeping system doesn't stretch back far enough.
So ya, I've hit the "keeping track" wall pretty hard...but not with your good fortune Phil!
Cheers, Dave.
Maybe a 'key' for all those initials would have helped, Dave.....
book keeping..i couldn't do that...if i had to organize my stuff to run it as a business...it would really be labor.
Thanks Randy. I made a key. But I can't find it...
Dave.
I created spreadsheet 'catalogs' for my entire South Trans-Atlantic Mail and German Inflation Mail cover collections.
Key column headings are:
Flight number or Rate period
Cancellation Date (posted)
Posting City
Description
Cancellation Date (received)
Receiving City
Franking (total value)
Date Acquired
Cost
I did this for a couple of reasons:
- To allow me to easily see the holes in the collections that might need filling (and to avoid acquiring unneeded duplicates).
- To help my heirs or me disperse the collections.
These were relatively easy to create, as there are only about 100 items in each collection, so far.

I guess some folks can keep track !
I've got a few boxes with stuff in them that I haven't got round to putting in albums, stockbooks or FDC Files. I sometimes just go through these boxes to try and remember what I've got.
Yup I know I have "such and such" an item but don't ask me where!!
Not unusual to find things in my hoard I swear I've never seen before!
Then I pull out something I've had 45 years and I remember every detail!
I would like to here from Vinman about this thread....Vince do you copy ?
I was looking through one of my Italian cover albums and this one struck my eye...gets to be somethings i can remember acquiring and some i kaint !
