Well I guess it saves buying Exlax!!!
Actually thanks to an SoR seller my US page 1 (#1-17) is only missing 3 stamps,2,8A and 13. Of course my Harris leaves out a few (3,4,5,6,16). But, at least the page has 9 out of 12 stamps on it. The trouble with the Poland pages is that the stamps are pretty well un-buyable since almost all are fakes. At least most of the US is safe from that! A lot of early Russia, especially the overprints, is also a problem. I also collect Ireland and, except for the Seahorse overprints, I have all except one of the smaller overprinted stamps (11A). There seems to be very little discussion about those stamps being faked. And then you have the early Cuba overprints, something else not safe to buy!!! I know of one buyer on this site who mainly collects overprints - a brave soul indeed!!
There is on advantage of print on demand album pages like Steiner. You do not have to see all those empty spaces if you do not print them. I do have quite a few early issue pages with just one stamp but do not actively seek them out either. The more expensive stamp the more critical you need to be on condition (perfs, thins, cancellation obliteration, etc.).
That's like early Luxembourg. I don't have deep pockets to purchase all these antiquities, so instead I made up my own page filled with what I have. It may not LOOK pretty, but it works for me.
I collect Poland to 1985 and I will never really have a chance to even get close to complete because of all those damn annoying overprints on pages 2, 3 and 4 of my album. They are so heavily faked that, even if they were affordable, I would never be able to pick them up. I have a few that I bought under the assumption they are fakes. And since I am an old fashioned type of collector removing the pages wouldn't sit right with me! I don't want a solution, I'm just venting! I enjoy looking through my various stamp collections, but those Poland pages annoy the crap out of me!!!
