Hi Phil
This has always been a favourite of mine.
Here's my copy which is a little different to yours.
The stamp in the top left on this one is in English rather than Afrikaans, and it has a different selection and arrangement of postal adverts.
Hello Nigel, i have never seen the 1p sheetlet..only a picture in the catalog.
JIPEX Mini-sheets issued for the Johannesburg Internation Philatelic Exhibition 1936.
Sheets consisted of 1/2 grey and green stamps as already illustrated in this thread and also 1d grey and carmine.
There were 10 different arrangements of advertisements on the 1/2d sheets, and 21 different arrangements on the 1d sheets.
Clive
Clever, it must have helped cover expenses for the show.
Also known as "picking the collector's pocket."
Charlie,Charlie it waS a souvenir i am sure no one forced into purchasing one.
Okay, a freebie, but some of these "souvenirs"
on the philatelic market cost money.
Phil, Nigel, Clive.
Thanks for sharing the various SS. Discussion re SA material is infrequent. While the early issues can be challenging, have benefited from Clive’s informative postings.
I have noticed this guy hanging around forever..time to add it to the South Africa pages.
