Possibly a zoo anniversary/opening. Maybe the British postmark society would be able to identify this for you.
Thanks, I didn't' know that group existed. Good idea.
Maybe the postmark is one of the FDC type, it looks more like an inkjet spray cancel to me.
It does not look like the stamp has phosphor bands, and if not, then you can rule out some of the early years. So nothing before 1980.
Edit. looking more closely at the image I think I see a phosphor band on the right side of the stamp, possibly also one on the left, maybe you could confirm.
If so the you are looking for a franking between 1971 and 1980, although you will have to allow for possible late usage.

Not only is there such a group, Stanley Gibbons
publishes "Collect British Postmarks."
I have a copy but would have to go page by page
looking for a similar illustration. A quick
thumbing through it does not yield anything,
so a detailed search would be needed

Well done, Dave! Thanks
I have been collecting picture cancellations for a while now.
I have an air controller tower, Star Trek Enterprise, airplane,
Owl putting litter in a bin, carousel horse, dog, snowman with letter, pandas,
railroad car, recent light bulb with plant inside it, dove,
person on scooter, octopus, multi-story building, paper airplane, tall ship,
dolphin.
This one has many animals in it.
Does anyone know the occasion for this cancellation?
What do you see in it?
