Very cool Bob!
What about the Germany "Hitler in a tree" stamp (I think from a 1960s series of buildings). Anyone have a scan?
Dave.
P.S. Any other similar items with subliminal pictures? Could be a new collecting obsession for those of us with too much time on our hands!
Here is the Hitler in a tree stamp. If it is the upper right face, it looks more like Charlie Chaplin to me!
Peter
I can't see a 'Hitler' face.....but I do see a ghost at left center!
Hitler is top right (wearing a top hat of all things!)
And I can see 2 ghouls directly above Randy's ghost. That is one messed up stamp!
Dave.
Thanks for posting these images. The Serbian story has been around a long time, but I don't think any philatelic historian really believes this was a deliberate image of the dead king; the resemblance is purely fanciful. I hadn't seen the Hitler in a tree before; I agree there is a ghost there, a rather elongated one.
" . "the resemblance is really fanciful ."
Another Mai-Tai and Judge Crater wil suddenly pop out at you.
I tend to agree that it looks more like Chaplin.....
My favorite part of this post was to find out I am a Stamporamanian! Say that three times fast. Woo hoo!
After a second - or third - look, it seems to be Chaplin in a top hat!
Interesting posts...! Does anyone know the scott # of the Hitler Stamp ?

If you mean the Hitler in a tree, it is the 50pf Buildings definitive issued December 15, 1964. Mi: 458 Scott: 909.

Thankyou very much Pete!!!! Did Germany with draw the stamps ?
Not at all! The post office was quite happy with the numbers of stamps being bought up! According to Michel, 250,000,000 were printed.

Just another rare error to collect.
One of my wife's seniors' fitness class participants handed an envelope of stamps to me a week ago. Looking through it today, I found an old newspaper clipping which might interest any collectors of Serbia. I don't have a copy of any of the stamps in question. I tried scanning the image in the Scott catalogue, but it's not high-enough res to see anything close to a "death mask". Anyway, I thought that some of you StampoRamanians might enjoy seeing the clipping. Perhaps someone can show us a high-res, inverted copy of one of the stamps. Or it's all just a figment of someone's imagination.
Bob
P.S. I have no idea about the origin of the clipping.
