Bob.
This is very helpful. Thank you.
The perorations on my stamp appear to form a character very similar to that shown on your 4 sen issue in the lower left. But much smaller in size; both the perforations themselves and the size of the resulting character. In fact, the hole size is even smaller than those shown on your 4 sen issue in the upper left.
Nonetheless, your posting solves the mystery. Thank you.

Today, while mounting a replacement copy of the 1924 Empress Jingo 10 yen issue (Scott 189), noticed the center of the reverse side featured a series of very tiny circular perforations. Laid out in a horiz pattern.
Perhaps the perforations represent an alphabet character?
The size of the perforations are so small in size that they hardly punch through the paper.
Akin to an embossing versus a traditional perfin.
Has anyone else encountered such a marking? And if so, significance?
Thanks in advance.
