A nice note and you managed to resist using the phrase, "Price Gouging."
Fantastic self control.
Proof again that knowledge is power; especially in philately.
"The $4000 stamp sheets is on your website for over 18 years."
The seller replied the over priced $4000 French Polynesian stamp sheets (3). She indicated it was a mistake & got the wrong price. She also got the wrong catalog number. It should be #230/32, not #234/36. The seller seems to be an American & might be confused using foreign catalogs. She's very familiar with world stamps, but unfamiliar with this region (French Polynesia).
.
It's important for sellers to check all information before releasing to the public. Unlike magazines that has Article Inspectors, Source Examiners & Proof Readers to check for mistakes, the stamp sellers don't have this luxury. Therefore, sellers have to take on this important task alone. Anyway, she corrected the mistakes & re-post it. A few days later, the stamp sheets were sold after 18 years of homeless. A happy ending.

We were wondering do sellers often make mistakes on price & catalog number ?
Hopefully not, these critical mistakes can effect his/her business in many ways.

Whenever I see overpriced stamps at such a magnitude, I believe the sellers do not know anything about stamps. They do not know what they have and do not know how to read a catalog. In some cases, they do not want to know.
When asking that much, one should expect the seller to know something. This can also apply to the buyer.
$4000 over priced stamp sheets (set of 3 sheets).

Dear Seller,
Please pardon our rudeness. We noticed one of your item is priced unusually high. The 1985 French Polynesia sheets for $4000. However, the catalogue priced at $250. Most are sold between $37-$382. We understand profit is necessary for today's business' but $4000 is above the catalogue. It's also above the price range in public & private auction.
.
We are the French Polynesia Stamp Club & we specialised French Polynesian stamps. We are very familiar with your 1985 stamp sheets. We evaluate your $4000 sheets based on quality, denomination & condition (Hinged/Non Hinged). We also evaluate printing alignment (center/off center). Moreover, we check sheets' mintage & date. As well as, the location of sheets printed. We cross reference global data base for scarcity & unknown findings.
.
We concluded the $4000 sheets is over priced. We apologized for the intrusion, it is not intend to criticise or insult. Philatelic Center of French Polynesia in Tahiti & French Philatelic Society in Paris utilised Yvert & Tellier Stamp Catalogue. Both are in agreement with the catalogue price $250. This is the official standing.
.
The $4000 stamp sheets is on your website for over 18 years. It would be nice if it can be sold as soon as possible. This can be achieve if you reconsider. Once again, we are sorry if we disrespect you in any way, shape or form. We hope you find this letter helpful & encouragement.
.
.
Sincerely,
French Polynesia Stamp Club.
.
Love & Peace
