I'm not sure, but I *think* these are fortunes that one would purchase from a local temple. I can't confidently tell whether these are Chinese or Japanese, but I have seen ones that are Japanese, so I'm assuming that's a possibility here.
(But, for what it's worth, the right image in the top row is upside down.)
I wish I could supply more information on these, but I'm pretty much tapped out on this.
...maybe like these??

Thanks for all your input. I will follow up these suggestions. I received an email from another member who thinks they might be money to burn at funerals and at grave sites for ancestors to spend in afterlife known as joss paper. Everything I have found on this is either too recent or too old for what I have. Following up on that too. If I figure it out I will let you know.

Can anyone help me figure out what these are? Pretty sure that they are not stamps. I found them in an envelope that had a mix of China and Japan stamps. So I'm not sure if they are Chinese or Japanese. They are about the size of a ticket stub. I have a few that are actually torn in half as if they were a ticket stub that you would use at a concert or a ball game.
I searched using the Google Image Identifier and found some things similar that were money but they were very old, like from the 14th century. Doubt that is what they are.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
