We had something similar in Germany, the so-called Brieftelegramm ("letter telegram" or "telegraph letter", whichever way you prefer to translate it). It was sent like a telegram, but delivered by the ordinary letter carrier instead of the telegram messenger, hence it was cheaper than a proper telegram.
Asking a question
Do any of the members collect Night Letters? I believe a night letter was a telegram sent at night to be delivered the next morning or day at a cheaper rate than the daytime rate. Correct me if that is incorrect. Please share images and more information..Were regular letters sent as Night Letters?
Thanks
Cheryl
