I run into that problem on a regular basis, I learned to answer the mail I receive, if I have an email address I'll let the sender know, otherwise it goes to the "Waiting" bin.
Just to make this more clear - I know exactly who sent the item. That's not the problem, I'm wondering what would have happened to the item if it were hauled aside by the USPS for some reason.
Hey Joe.
With any luck the USPS would donate them to The Holocaust Stamps Project, but I doubt it. I'll have to send them the address and drop a big hint...
.....
But seriously, I think this happened to me once MANY years ago - and I got a notice that they were being held at the local post office until I came in and filled out a form myself (I think I was levied a fee but can't remember).
Maybe a good question for your local postmaster!
Just a question. I got a stamp lot in the mail lately from the US with no return address. What would have happened if the lot had been stopped for not having a customs form? Where would they have returned the lot? Would they have sent it to me to pay or would it just stayed in the dead mail area? Just curious!
