Alaouites Scott #C11
Thanks Michael: Part of my confusion, which is still borderline in my thinking, exists in the fact that Syria SC #183 (A4) is slightly different in the Scott's illustration than the actual stamp I possess. Secondly, the 'black" Arabic script overprint on my issue is below the red aircraft overprint, rather than on the aircraft. Thirdly, in the Scott's illustration for Alaouites #C11, the black script is higher and does not appear to look exactly like my specimen. However, until proven incorrect, I have established the stamp as #C11, as you've reported.
The Scott Catalog for Alaouites does not list this beautiful post office fresh MNH stamp, but other similar issues are noted (Circa. 1926-30). This stamp has Arabic script and the other examples do not? Need a Cat. # and Value.
