Hi to all

I have been re-arranging my decimal collection into year of printing and found this Bauxite 9 cent with a variety.

The stamp on the right hand side where the pipe comes down adjacent to the artist, Robert Ingpen, you will notice on the left stamp it is there, but not on the right hand stamp. Also you will notice that part of the colour is also missing on the larger pipe as well. Both stamps are MNH

Is it listed anywhere?

Regards

Horamakhet

Hi Dave

There is a whole white pipe missing on the right hand stamp

Look at the left hand stamp, look at the main white pipe, then look under it and you will see a thinner pipe, but on the right hand stamp it is completely missing

White can't be missing on a stamp on white paper, as it's the base colour.

Look at the brown on the right stamp. See there's a gap between the bottom of the black and the bottom of the brown? That's about 1mm. That tiny shift would be enough for the brown to cover the white pipe. The large white pipe also appears partially brown for the same reason.

Hi Dave

On the enlargement picture one, you can see the white pipe is completely missing, and on picture two it is there.

I understand what you are saying re colour shifts, but it is a fairly large colour shift.

Do you know if it is listed in the ACSC on Decimal stamps as I do not have copy of those volumes?

Good images, but as I said, white cannot be a missing colour. It's a small colour shift, and considered an oddity rather than a variety. Accordingly, it isn't listed. I have also checked McCleary, which is a more exhaustive listing of decimal varieties, and nothing is listed there either
