Hi to all

I found this five shilling robes, and it has a fault on the left hand value.

Part of the value of the figure is missing

It is not skinned, as I have examined it with a microscope and a 10X lens

Rob have you seen one like this?

perhaps there was a blob of paper on the plate when printing, I wonder if there are others around?

Regards

Hi Horamakhet

I haven't seen one of those and that's saying something. Could you enlarge just the bottom section for me and send it to my email address.

Hi Dave

That was part of my suspicion, but the faint top serif does not show any surface damage beyond the serif, which would be the case if it was surface damage; a much closer look will need to be done.

I agree with Dave....

...looks very much like the ink/color was mostly washed away in that area.

...water or some chemical, I suspect.

In any case, appears to be a damaged stamp.

Hi Rob and all

I forgot that I had not posted a scan of the lower part of the Robes stamp

Here it is, I can assure everyone it is not skinned or thinned.
