My hair has fallen out and my knees have dropped off having turned green with envy!
Nice not to have the postmark obliterating the stamps.
Ian, not a Scotsman showing his knees, arghhh.
Just to make it worse it was a UK seller on that other site, seems to have been mostly from loose stuff with a few previously hinged and some needing soaking.
Always worth a sort through for the possible watermark varieties.
Will keep me busy when the snow arrives.
Yup!
Its always one of the joys sorting through a mixed lot or an old album/stockbook. You never know what you might find.
An item may not be valuable but may set you off into a different area of collecting.
" .... SG 442b (Scott 213b) 2d orange with sideways watermark, ...."
A really fortuitous find, Phil
Did your catalog mention that it is from a sideways delivered coil strip ?
And I think the crown is to the left side. But I cannot trust my yes for that
Yes Charlie, crown is to the left when viewed from front of stamps. Crown is pointing to right when viewed from the back, second image.
I figured it was from a coil or booklet because of the trimmed perfs along the top. Thanks for clarifying which.
I'm intrigued by the postmark - is it a parcel cancel?
I would imagine it is a parcel postmark although possibly from a newspaper wrapper.
Looks like the usual style of parcel cancellation.
in a $30 mixed bunch of off paper GB.
SG 442b (Scott 213b) 2d orange with sideways watermark, strip of 3. Not sure what else i'm going to find but that's already filled a gap in the collection.
There were 80 grams of stamps in total ranging from 1902-1953. At present I have just sorted into sets and years.
Now comes the part where I wish watermark detection could be automatic, now there is a use for AI.
