Waaaaaay before my time ;-) But the franking is interesting because of the advertisement label still attached to the stamp. It is remarkable because in the area around St Johann and Sprendlingen real wine is grown, and still, people there advertise cider. But the card wasn't sent from there, Celle and Rinteln are near Hannover.
As for the guys on the photo, they are members of a "Stammtisch", a group of people who customarily meet in a pub, regulars who usually sit at the same table. The writer of the cards asks his mother why the family did not send any message, are they all ill? He sends a photo of his regulars' group - quite nice, aren't they? - and says that business and weather are bad, but general health is good.
The text on the picture side is not clear enough for me to read, it starts with "Stammtisch der ..." and seems to end with "...krug Celle" (the name of the pub). Maybe a bigger scan helps?
