I list on the APS Stampstore my better / higher value items and have done fairly well.

Now that I am nearly retired again ( retired until my dealer friend decides he needs a car /room load of stamps sorted again ), I am considering using the APS circuits ( and of course the approvals here ) for a lot of my lower catalogue value ( less than say $15 ) stamps.

I do have a couple of questions I would appreciate input on....

1. What type of stamp mounts would you recommend for securely attaching the stamps for my mnh material?

2.For used stamps are Prinz hinges considered the best apart from the fabled Dennison hinges?

Best wishes,

Brian.

One should never use hinges for these books. Small glassines with a gum edge are used
exclusively. APS no longer sells them, however, you can find them online cheaply.

re: Advice re APS circuits appreciated....

My advice for both of your questions :

Use HAWID, Leuchturm or Davo clamping strips. All kind of measurements available.
I use them for over 40 years now.......
They are in Black and Transparent. The back side has a gum coat. Make it a LITTLE wet and put it in your album.

I like the Hawid style mounts that are open on three sides for my albums, but I would be concerned that stamps in them would fall out too easily when used in circuit books.

re: Advice re APS circuits appreciated....

It is definitely better to use Scott type mounts in circuit books due to the issues with the stamps falling out in APS circuit books. Normally the APS recommends small bags with a gummed flap as they provide for four side protection.

After trying every modern hinge I could find I gave up and bought 10x1,000 real Denison hinges and find they are definitely worth the difference in cost when dealing with pre-hinged material which for me is essentially always unused stamps. I consider it the best $150 purchase I ever made for my stamp collection.

As a side note to the above;

There are a lot of Dennison hinges for sale right now on Ebay.
