Very nice set, the only query I would have is that the cancellation is French. It is Le Havre, Seine-Inférieure which is now Seine Maritime.
Issued in October 1914 - SG Numbers 151-153 They are worth more mint(£75) than used(£65).
The Great War started in the July and Germany invaded Belgium in August. Perhaps a refugee or soldier had the stamps and used them in France. I should think things were pretty chaotic so all sorts went on. Or they may have been used in a Belgium Military Base.
We can speculate forever about the cancellations but it is unlikely that they are counterfeit because of the inappropriate cancellation.
These are easy to tell if they are a forgery or not.
Look at the country name "BELGIQUE" in the top panel of the stamp.
In the genuine stamp, the "Q" will have its tail.
In the forgery, the "Q" lacks the tail.
The cancellation is Le Havre and specifies special. The Belgium government took refuge in this city during WWI. In 2015, the French PTTs issued a stamp in memory of the event. Michel
I have these 3 stamps on piece. I suspect they are probably counterfeits but I am hoping some of our Belgium experts can offer an opinion. Thank you.
