Sourcing european forgeries ...
for many years, I found dubious kobans that did not conform to known japanese sources... or the ISJP CD on forgeries.
as began to study classic vintage albums and their makers, the illustrations revealed new forms of koban. some later emerged in europe as forgeries or facsimiles...
Florian Eichhorn introduced me to Gerhard Lang, who amassed many classic album sheets. merging these images with my database of forgeries, hence allowed closer comparison of genuine and suspect items... and, identification of unkown types.
I continue to streamline the index further as new discoveries are made ...
