I am touched by how much our club members miss the meetings..probably the same way i miss the gym at the YMCA,my favorite Chinese buffet with "sushi" and the closing of APS Hq.
To let our local club members know we are thinking of them during this,
I sent out postcards to each member with a few words of encouragement from myself
(V.P./Sec/Treasurer) and our club president.
All our members are retirement age except myself...and we have one member
who is 93 and still drives AND volunteers at the local hospital!
We all have voiced how we dearly miss our meetings.
I'm 70 yrs young, and the club members call me junior . we have a phone chain and all our members are called at least 2x a week, during these trouble times
My local stamp club here in Port St. Lucie holds a monthly auction. I haven't been able to physically attend for a few months because of health reasons and now the virus has ALL meetings and shows cancelled for the foreseeable future. But, I was able to submit some auction lots before the shutdown, which hubby delivered for me.
I sold a box of used supplies - a mishmash of envelopes, stock pages and so on, in the last auction - starting bid $1. I don't like clutter, so I'm just happy to get them out of the way - the price isn't that important to me.
Imagine my surprise when the fella that won the lot actually sent me MORE money. I couldn't believe it! He said that the box of supplies were very helpful to him and worth much more than he paid, so he sent me extra $$$ in the mail. That's the type of folks we have here in our club - very generous and giving people. I'm very lucky to know them.
Aren't stamp collectors the best?
