Today's stamp is of the "Lady of the Lake" of King Arthur lore and story.
Very interesting character that appears so very many times throughout history in many forms and bodies of literature.
The lake that she is said to inhabit is also in question, but has been narrowed somewhat to about eight or so possible locations.
Very interesting to ready about.

Cool JR, I think they're finding that more and more "myths" are actually grounded in fact. It wouldnt surprise me if they did find some evidence of this.
Yes, it is all very interesting!
Thanks for viewing!

My one and only Topical collection is Mermaids:

Hi Lars,
Very cool! Very impressive!
I have those exact blank pages to use if I want to.
I'm still deciding if I like my topical collection in a stock book or an album.
Did you run your pages through a printer to get the additional text on them?
GREAT JOB!
JR
Yes, I just use a normal printer and some image processing software I have. I use a printer with a direct feed (the paper goes in the back and comes out the front). I have found that to work better with thicker paper, and yet any time I say that there is always someone that wants to argue about it. It's my experience. Period. Full stop.
Lars
I found the same thing about my printer... so here's somebody that agrees!
Did you print some test shots before you went for the real thing? I'm sure you must have. Makes sense.
Now ya got me thinking more about using the album pages... rather than just stock books... It would look cooler and then I could categorize more.
Hmmmm... it would be an undertaking, because I have quite a few stamps of this topic... (and growing more each week! I'm impressed with how many exist!).
Anyway, all good things to think about.
Thanks!
JR
Hi all,
Today's entry is a frightening one to be sure!
The dreaded Basilisk!
Although to me this looks a lot more like a combination of Basilisk and Cockatrice to me!

Cockatrice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockatrice
Seems like in general, that you just don't want to run into either one!

Well JohnnyRockets,
If your in for Myth/Folklore/Fairy Tales then take a look at the stamps from the former East Germany.
Fairy Tales in German is Märchen. And there are plenty of them.
Below some examples :
I've just started collecting the country, but I have noticed Norway has several folklore/fairy tale issues.
Jonny - have you seen these from Sweden - 1982? They're illustrations from various Swedish tales - the little girl is Princess Tuvstarr. I got that info from the Facit catalogue.
Here they are.
Hi Hockeynut!
Those are some great ones and a couple that I do not have.
Let me know if they ever come up for sale!
Especially the Puschkin group or the last group posted (showing a fish in each frame), those are very nice!
JR
JohnnyRockets,
maybe this site (from the USA) helps.
They give a description of the fairy-tale in English.

Hockeynut, those are really neat. I had never seen those before. Some of those are real head scratchers. Haha

Hi all,
If your main collecting interest can be calculated by the number of stamps that you seek, acquire and look at the most in your collection, than Myth/Folklore/Fairy Tale topical collecting is my main collecting interest.
I always seem to come back to this part of my collection and seek to acquire these stamps the most.
I guess it combines two interests into one. I have always enjoyed folklore and fairy tales, etc.
Anyway... I thought I'd share some interesting ones in this thread.
Here is an interesting stamp regarding Austrian Folklore and "Carrying the Samson".
It is an interesting tradition that has a long history.
More to come...
