Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have another GB minisheet lacking a Scott number.
2007 SG MSEN19
Any help greatly appreciated
Kim
My Scott 2009 states it is #2462 issued April 23, 2007, $9 mint.
Hi Brightonpete,
Many thanks.
By the way is that Brighton East Sussex? I have family there.
Cheers
Kim
Nowhere near! Brighton, Ontario, Canada. Just a tiny town here!
Kim,
Keep in mind that Scott's CWAG as to values are more than often
wildly optimistic and at best are retail guesses.
Accurate prices are what a well informed collector is willing
to pay a knowledgeable seller, neither operating under any
pressing need.
Good Luck.
For US, Scott usually values a recent mint stamps at 2x face. This may give a clue on how data is gathered and this is even for stamps still on sale at the post office for face. There are dealers that sell even above that but do not think that is close to a typical market price.
We have the same problem here in the UK with SG. Where they get their values from I have no idea but they bear no relationship whatsoever to the actual market.
I have found that the 'genuine' used stamp prices are usually about a quarter of the SG value and mint a third.
I have found that Scott values are nearer the market prices. I believe that the SG prices are so high because they make their living selling them. They are setting the market.
With GB mint I tend to sell at face plus 10-25% to cover expenses.
Apart from all that, I have another GB minisheet that needs a Scott number.
2009 SG MS2904
Many thanks and Happy Easter to you all.
Scott #2626. Issued February 12, 2009. My 2011 Scott value is $7 mint and $3.50 used.

Thanks Mel,
