American Philatelist access free
To serve the entire philatelic community during the coronavirus emergency, APS has lifted the members-only restriction on access to The American Philatelist here."
Anglophile,
This is a great idea.
Also, the post on current free access to the APS The American Philatelist is a great resource.
Here at home we have been catching up on Japanese Art videos, specifically those posted on the YouTube channels by Canadian ukiyo-e expert designer, woodblock carver, printer and publisher (!) DAVID BULL. Although Mr. Bull does not delve into Philatelic subjects, these videos are a great resource to understand the countless ukiyo-e Japanese postage stamp series. These ukiyo-e and art postage stamps are a major contribution to philately. And, by the way, Mr. Bull was or is still an avid collector of postage stamps.

Since it looks like the APS Show in August will not happen, I will have extra time to rewrite by Apollo-Soyuz Test Project before I will be able to exhibit it.
APS could put all exhibits online with a narrative to broaden the audience and still do the judging.
This will be of interest to those who collect Vietnam postal history. It appears that the videos are left up for a few days only.

This weekend I am downloading from the APS web site, "Postal History Journal"and later this week I plan on downloading "Collector's Club Philatelist". I have long runs of these issues but now I can leave them in the basement and have more shelf space in my library. I'm moved into the new house, it would be nice if my new shelves get delivered soon. Back to Philly to do my radio show tomorrow night.
Vince
Vince when is your show? I thought you had a slot Friday morning. I haven't been listening the past few weeks so may have missed a schedule change.
One of my collections is Netherlands Indies / Indonesia. I have been saving postmarks for a number of years. I find it fascinating the way the names of the cities have changed. For example: Batavia-Djakarta-Jakarta, Djember-Jember, Djokjakarta-Jogjakarta-Yogyakarta, etc.
I put together a title page with a map of Indonesia and a red dot showing the location of the city, with all the name changes. Below I put a cover, then after that postmarks, all different styles and sub-post offices. I have one post card showing the post office in Yogyakarta. I'd like to get as many postcards (vintage or current) of the post office in various cities.
If there is one bright side to this COVID-19 pandemic, it is that us stamp collectors now get some time to work on our collections.

I gave up my Friday morning show but I still am on the air Monday night 9:30-1:00 playing Blues music. I can still travel from Bellefonte to Philly once a week. My wife is working from home until further notice but when she goes back it will just be a day or two in the office and the rest of the week from home. The ride isn't too bad, about 3 1/2 hours.

I've been working a bit on my albums while in captivity..
I'm working on my 19th century to 1929 commemoratives album that was sorted but I never made the page identifiers or organized it nicely.
This is an amazing site that claims over 4,000 online exhibits. Tons of great stuff to peruse while on lock down. I searched www.aicpm.net but didn't see anything. Not sure if this has been posted previously. Definitely check out the Wester Cover Society!

Hi Ernie would you please reduce the link into 2 lines as it has increased the page width on the screen and is a pain in the neck.
Ian,
I'm embarrassed but I don't know how to do this. I remember you asking someone else a couple of days ago... Do I just click in the middle and hit "enter"? I tried that and it went right back where it started.
Ernie, would you believe neither do I.
However you may find that just delete part of the link going from right to left,
this bit
=&CodGroup=&Section=&Codpage=&RowSelect=WEBONLINEEXHIBITS&Textpage=Standard_Area_Page.asp
and you'll probably find that just leaving the start of the link will still take you to
where you want to go.
In fact if you just leave "http://www.stampontheweb.com/StandardPage.asp?" it takes you to the index page.
You, sir, are a genius.

Ikes,
What a Mensch! Thank you so much.
Ernie:
Always happy to put a grin on your face, lad.
Q/ Should we add the question mark demarcation point to the SOR FAQ/tutorials ?

On the home page of the Collectors Club https://www.collectorsclub.org/ you will find a featured video. Specifically a fabulous presentation by Patrick Maselis on “The Medallion Issues of Belgium 1849 – 1866.” This is the first of series of program videos we will post on our website for your enjoyment.
We usually keep videos of our programs behind a “pay wall” reserved for members. However, considering everything going on, we decided to make program videos available to everyone. We expect to rotate the videos, changing them every few days. We have an extensive back catalog and there will be no lack of fascinating programs.
We hope you enjoy these videos and that they help provide some relief from the dislocation we are all feeling.
