I looked in my Yang's Catalogue of Hong Kong, but found nothing relating to a variety like this. Yang lists many varieties in later definitive sets, but for the Queen Victoria with watermark crown CC set, they only list color shades and watermark inverted/reversed as varieties. I have never seen it before, but I am no expert. Sorry I am not much help.
Thanks for showing us this stamp,
Linus
Here is the stamp a bit bigger. No visible paper damage. could be just dirt on the plate or other coincidence. I think, I will keep this one it falls into the eye wit one look.
I found this stamp in a old album That I have been going through. It is from 1865, Watermark Crown over CC (Wm 1 in my Michel). Victoria seems to be wearing a earring. unfortunately I do not have this one double and I am wondering if this a variety or not?
