Charlie Steele and i took a 15 mile ride South on the Taconic Parkway and his GPS led us directly to a nice couple with a small plastic box on their table. I shall leave it up to your imagination what we found. I have been playing with stamps since i sent away for my 500 stamps for 10 cents in 1949,and its been a long often slow process...i had the album but went many many years before i acquired my first catalog, then i joinned the club i now belong to, i joinned the APS it was only 8 bucks a year in those days. So how to explain to folks in their 70s how to go about collecting stamps....where do they get an album ? How much does it cost ? The same for catalogs . Its not an inexpensive process and at least for myself it took a long time to get past the basics. I imagine some folks are fast learners...they will also make mistakes.

re: Snipe Hunt 2

To stamping for seniors is not different other activities like putting together puzzles, etc. You could even make a BINGO game out of it. There are enough common stamps to make it easy without worrying about mistakes.

I think one mindset that you have to have an album and catalog. The new thinking is how to enjoy stamps without them. I have seen many Mystic albums on ebay where someone started with an album but did not get very far along before stopping for whatever reason.

was the small plastic box the protective housing for the jewels of their collections, or was it their collection?
