This is not going to answer your question regarding the cancel, but to be Scott #34, etc., the watermark is sideways. If the watermark is upright (and is Watermark #13), then it is Scott #41.
Thanks Michael. It is watermark 13 and is Scott# 41 instead of 34. However, Scott still shows that 41 was issued in 1910.
SG 47: 1907-1910, with perf 11. watermark Crown over A upright. Large PAPUA, issued 11/07. Litho. CV 1990 2.75 UK pounds.
This seems to be Scott 19 without overprint although Scott is not very clear with the wording.
Thanks. I don't have a Stanley Gibbons catalog. It can't be like Scott# 19 as that stamp has the multiple rosette watermark.
It can't be Scott #19, because #19 is inscribed "British New Guinea".
Dakota, what you have is SG.47 "Large Papua" issued 11th July 1907 Perf.11 Wmk Crown over A. I'm sorry I can not help you with Scott numbers. However check the wmk as there are inverted known.
According to scott's catalogue if it is Large Papua it is Sc #41 issued in 1910 .What strikes me as odd is it looks like the first P in Papua is shorter than the rest of the name.the bottom of the P should be closer to the white border?
Brian
Brian the 1/d Large Papua issued in 1910 that you refer to is SG.75 also Wmk Crown over A, however it is Perf 12 1/2 whereas the stamp shown by Dakota is Perf 11.
Dang it Michael, just when I thought my brain cell had managed to answer a query, my eyes deceived me.
Going to look for another brain cell now as this one is getting lonely.
Could someone please give me the SG catalog number and possibly a value. Thank you.
Thought we had done that already, see Kapul's post as well as mine.
Can someone help me with this stamp. It appears to be Scott# 34b which is Perf. 11
According to Scotts, this set was issue in 1909 and 1910. This stamp is postmarked in 1908. Have I misidentified this stamp or is it a real early use. Thank you.
