Awww Ikey, Just think how impressed any gal would be to see you at the throttle of that sucker, err, vacuum.
There ya go, Mom!
Make the 10 yr. old do the housework!
I certainly did MY share at that age!
Love you, Mom!
ikeyPikey -
I cannot think of a single postcard in my collection that is as odd and surprising from front to back as that one.
I think you won your own contest!
Linus
I agree, Linus!
It is certainly an extremely odd juxtaposition! Weirdly wonderful in a way! Yeah, Ikey, I think you win this one!
'
Q/ Do I come off as that competitive ?
It was not a contest.
It was just a little red meat to get y'all thinking & digging & posting.
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey (who, as he paws his way thru the bargain boxes, will see something that belongs to some thread, and grab it)
OK ikey, I will take the bait. Scanned below are two postcards that I found at the postcard show in Iowa City, Iowa earlier this year. I was somewhat surprised where these cards came from. Just for fun, I will make it a contest. No prize involved, but take a guess where these two cards were mailed from, as both were mailed from the same country. Hint: they are NOT from the USA or from Canada. All other countries are possibilities. I will wait a day or so before I show you the backs.
More than one person can guess the same country. Go ahead Stamporama members, and take a shot at it, just for fun. Where were these two mailed from?
Linus (who apologizes to ikeyPikey for blowing up his thread)
Japan
France or Spain?
Hey Ernie - I was going to say Japan! You lil stinker heh heh. LoL.
Ok, second choice, ummmmm, something odd ... China or Korea ( hey Ian got two picks! )
Duchy of Grand Fenwick
.
We'll know for sure if the publisher's imprint has a double-headed eagle saying "yea" and "nay"
The first has that Japanese feel to it, but the building isn't right and the second is all wrong for Japan, eg, that's not Fuji-san, and cypress trees?
I'll go for France.
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey
I'd hazard a guess of Spain for the first, Mexico for the second.
China
Thank you to everyone who offered a guess.
The correct answer is Germany.
Happy New Year to all my friends here on Stamporama,
Linus
Card Backs That Surprise You
Q/ Have you ever held a postcard, thought you understood what you were looking at, turned it over, and got a smack ?
So there I was, passing 50,000 feet at Mach 2, twenty-odd thousand pounds of Commie-killing thrust at my back, when I turned the card over and ... IT'S A GIRLIE CARD !@#$%!
Q/ Got any surprise backs of your own to post?
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey
