Never mind, in searching on line for a better look, it is WM 156. But why is it upside down?
It's more than likely just the way the paper was fed into the press. Germany has some stamps with watermarks in the 4 orientations. One is good enough for me, and it doesn't matter which way it is either.
I have been looking at the watermarks listed in Scott for Mexico and I cannot seem to fit this one into any of those listed. The stamp is Type A112, 10c violet. It is perf 14, and would be #733 except that one is WM 156 and this one isn't. I am puzzled by the positions of the letters. The stamp that I am showing is in the correct position (e.g. top at the top) and the diagonal watermark is upside down. The letters MEXI appear not only lower right to upper left, but also lower left to upper right. Any assistance here would be appreciated.
