Hi all,

Well I'm finally narrowing down my area of interest somewhat.

I really like collecting GB QEII "Era" and Commonwealth countries (still a HUGE interest area!).

Right now I am working on a very cool "QEII Coronation" album that I found online for free and downloaded. I had the album professionally color printed on nice 110 pound paper, with a 3 hole punch and put it in a nice binder and it will work out well I believe. I have started to add stamps to it. I'm trying to stay with mint stamps as long as my budget will allow! Winking

I also went to my first stamp show, and that was really cool, in fact it kind of turned me onto this new collecting interest. Initially, as I walked around at the stamp show, I really could not find anything that I wanted to buy, because I came to the show with no real focus, but more of a "browse focus". My wife actually bought stamps at this show before I did, and she doesn't even collect! I decided at the end of the show to take one more "browse through" and was able to stumble upon a "Silver Jubilee" album of QEII that was already filled with the appropriate stamps! I purchased it for a very low fee, and have been examining it ever since... Hence the new interest. All really interesting and fun stuff! Happy

I'm now quite interested in purchasing mint stamps for this QEII Coronation album and have been looking on various stamp sites to purchase them. If any of our SOR members sell stamps from this era/time, please let me know (PM me?) and maybe we could makes some sales? Happy

Thanks,

JR

Hi JR:-

Good Luck in trying to fill your 1953 Coronation Album. Buying them singly or when you see them coming up at auction. I did the same in my early years of stamp collecting.

When You find that last stamp and put it in the album the glow of satisfaction is terrific.

My current Coronation collection is housed in an album that was produced in 1953 specifically for these stamps.

Enjoy!!

If you want to narrow down QEII, then you could stop around 1970.

What, and miss the best of the Machin series ?
Where's the fun in that ?

For a real challenge try to continue
QE II postally used, fine to very fine,
until its inevitable sad ending.

I would consider Machins a separate decision especially if one gets into all the varieties not listed in Scott or SG general catalogs.

Hi all,

Thanks for your great replies!

I'm having a blast with it, with no clear end in sight. But I have purchased for very little quite a few of the 1953 Coronation stamps, so I'm on a good path forward so far and have even mounted my first stamp in my new album! A triumph for sure! Happy

Thanks all!
