I believe the stamp on the left is a postal savings stamp.
The other stamp is China, Scott #617. The green surcharge denotes the change in currency to "Chinese National Currency" following World War II. The surcharge was applied in Shanghai.
The black surcharge, which was applied first, represents the Nanking puppet government currency during Japanese occupation in World War II. Without the green surcharge, the stamp would be China Scott #9N85.
Thank you Michael, your information, it was greatly appreciated..
I think maybe I need to be better at reading the details in
the Scott Catalog..
Thanks again and Regards.
Having trouble with the ID of these stamps.
I looked in catalog and just am missing it.
So any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I am really interested in the story behind the
second stamp and double overprint.
