Image Not FoundImage Not FoundImage Not FoundI picked these up this summer and need some values as I don't collect these.

I'm sure the 324 is about $1000,Scott says $5000 but this is not the auction house prices. It's at PSE getting the cert.

As for the 583 EKU(EKU for the non-precancelled 583)I have no idea,it's only the second one found with the May 15th date from Washington so theres only two,the first one sold in auction but this was years ago and the sale record is not available.

I need help on this one too,I don't know if it's a $100,$1000 or more ?Image Not Found

Just curious about something that has come up in this post. Does the date of the post mark, whether it is very early or very late affect the value of the stamp? I notice the Scott Specialized often gives the earliest use date but doesn't assign a value to this. Does it make the price really high if you have an EKU? If so, does that mean we should, if we are anal, go back and check all the post mark dates in case we have an EKU?

Hi,I go by the Siskun-Berkun registry put out by Mr.Frajola at RFRAJOLA.com for all my FDC and EKU research,it's well done and updated regularly.

I would go and check all your pre-1929 stuff for them, they sell for good money and the older ones get some crazy prices, like the 324 FDC I found, one sold 2 months ago for $1050 but I can't remember the website and one sold for $1900 at KELLEHER AUCTIONS,this is a great site to find FDC and EKU cover prices that are recent.

I need help with the 583 EKU I found, there's only one other one, same date from Washington DC but the sale price was years ago and they don't have the records anymore.

Harvey, earliest use cancels require the stamp to be on a cover. Such covers can command higher prices. Stamp that were used outside of the time period that they were contemporary usually have lower values.

Mr Smart Money told me that purchasing an EKU is a sucker's game, as the premium you paid evaporates the day that someone discovers an earlier use.

If you can sell an EKU, then sell it, and get out ... unless, of course, you need it for an exhibit.

Cheers,

Brando,

sounds like you've already done your research with specialized books and web sites. I'd go with that.

re: Can you help me with some prices please,324 FDC and 583 EKU.

Now with the internet EKU's are like gambling your correct,FDC's hold value better.

But if you can find an older EKU(what I do is check Siskun-berkun,they usually put up the cert number for a lot of them)then go and check the cert for a date, some of these EKU's are 50+ years old like the 583 I have(I have over 20 EKU's here at home but there all not certified,I just buy them and put them in the drawer for later)so the 583 EKU is from 50+ years ago and now I have the second one so I'll get a good price for it,I just don't know what that price is ?

If you can find an wicked rare Pre First Day cover these are worth thousands. for the older stuff.

There is a certain dramatic tension between "find" and "wicked rare".

It is my impression that you can find plenty of pre-first-day-of-sale covers for considerably less than "thousands", but that's only an impression.

Unless, of course, you're buying them at Siegel's upcoming (191029-30) Bill Gross Part Three.
